Was there last week and it was great food again. Not perfect, but very very good!! I don't think I've ever given anything five stars.

The best thai food I have had in years! Came on a night when they were short-staffed, and still got great service, along with top notch food. Fair warning, though... the food runs a bit spicy, so order carefully!

I absolutely love Kham's Thai. It is, by far, my favorite place to eat in St. Johnsbury. I do a lot of traveling and have yet to find a Thai restaurant in New England that equals it. My wife and I have eaten hear close to 30 times in the past few years and have never had a bad meal. The food is consistent and fresh. You can tell they make most of their items from scratch using fresh ingredients rather than frozen food that is quickly deep fried or microwaved. This is the mark of a true restaurant instead of one that purchases frozen garbage they reheat and serve. If you like Thai and are coming through St. Johnsbury, Kham's is a must.

This us a small place but for the size seems to turn over tables very quickly. They have 4 types of Duck on the menu and then of course your basic Tia dishes. Prices are less than $12 a person unless you order duck or the seafood combo meal. Duck is $14.95 and the seafood combo is $15.95. I have tried the yellow curry. It's one of my favorite dishes. I have also had the crispy duck with Tamarind sauce that's a 4 out of 5 stars. The soups are excellent. We go for the brown rice instead of the white rice and it's always cooked perfect. We have been here three times in just 2 weeks. For the North East Kingdom this is a nice Tia restaurant. If your going to be a group more than 5 I would call ahead. This is a very small restaurant.

The food here is actually a 4 star but the service was more of a 1 star. I really wanted to give more stars but I just couldn't because of the service. Either the server was very new or just wasn't paying attention. We had to ask for the soup that was supposed to come with the lunch special before the main dish. We didn't get it until we were halfway through out meal. Also asked for Thai tea and had to chase down the server to remind her to bring it. We didn't get that until we were about done with our meal. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. The sweet and sour pork is probably the best I have ever had and the red chicken curry was awesome! The Thai tea was also delicious. I would definitely eat here again, I just hope the service gets better.

So, great news for everyone who loves this place: Thai food actually gets WORLDS better than this! Try pretty much anywhere! The owner was friendly and the service was solid. The vibe is very informal, and a little bit falling apart. No offense, but I have a little trouble believing that the glowing reviews here are unbiased. The food has practically nothing to do with authentic Thai cuisine, and barely rates "average" on its own merits. It doesn't taste fresh, and it is overly sweet. But it's better than starving.

We have eaten here about 25-30 times so far, and they do a great job of serving delicious, fresh Thai cuisine. I have been chasing down Thai food all over New England for 20 years and honestly, some of their dishes are in my top 10. If you love a good tom yum and/or pho, do yourself a favor an order the Thai noodle soup.....outstanding dish and for $9 you cant go wrong. The lunch combos are a good value with a cup of soup, crab rangoon, small thai roll and you entree choice. Also, I love my Thai food spicy, and not "round eye spicy", so if you ask for "Thai hot" and go 5 star, you should be happy. The owners are nice people, the son usually has his kids there off to the side but they are always well behaved.......give them a shot, you will be happy you did.

They actually make food "Thai Spicy" - hurrah!!!!! I haven't had Thai food this yummy since I've been back from Thailand. Lunch specials are a great value.

Pretty great place considering the area. Drunken Noodles where very different but very good. Fresh spring rolls and Thai spring rolls were both pretty good. Def best place to eat if u are in area.

This place was a heaven on a cold snowy night.. The food was one of the best Thai we have eaten. Cozy place, friendly staff and the chef is spinning it purely out of passion.. Their curries are great.. and so are the tempura veggies

This is the first place that my best friend and I go to eat when she is home. The food is CRAZY GOOD. We have always had attentive servers, but they also don't mind if you sit for awhile :) Order the Thai Iced Tea. DO ITTTTTT.

Best Thai food in the middle of no where. Thu had wonderful Thai iced tea and their curries were well spiced and delicious. We splurged for dessert and had the fried bananas which were equally delicious. All around wonderful Thai wonderful service and the best road trip lunch stop I have ever made.

I've gone a few times and local friends are regulars. Its good and some of the better food I've had in the area. Defiantly, good value for the quality. As someone else mention the crispy duck is good. I like it, my friends love it. Everything I have had has been good to very good. My only negative is I have felt rushed by the staff even when the place was not filled.

Stopped by this restaurant for a quick dinner on our way towards Boston. Tired and weary, this was a pleasant surprise - a little Thai restaurant at a random location in Vermont. While this was not the best Thai food I've had, this is probably as good as it is going to get around the area. We ordered the crispy duck, the pad see ew and the panang curry. Of the three, the crispy duck was definitely the one worth getting. The skin was crispy, and the meat was tender and juicy. The sauce it was in was fantastic. As for the panang curry and pad see ew, they were relatively ordinary - essentially what you would get at an average Thai restaurant. Overall, this was a good experience.

In a word: Appalling. I have eaten Thai food across the US and Asia - it never tasted like Kham's Thai Cuisine. Kham's "Drunken Noodle" tastes like sweet-and-sour Thai spaghetti - what are tomato sauce and pineapple chunks doing in there? Kham's "Pad Thai" is missing the great flavors of tamarind and fish sauce that should make it the complex staple we know and love. And what is that pink-tinged pork in the "Pad Prik King?" I didn't order a Pu Pu Platter! But that pretty well summarizes this restaurant - a feeble attempt to disguise ingredients and recipes from bottom-shelf Chinese restaurants as Thai food. It's not.

Like the 2 stars are meant to denote, "Meh. I've experienced better." This said, there aren't a lot of choices around, they are very nice and the food wasn't bad, just it was toned down Thai.

All I wanted to do when I got into St. J after 36 hours of travel nightmares was sit down at Elements with a dirty martini and a hanger steak. But no... My dad pushes the car down past Price Chopper and before I can yell at him for taking me all the way to Lyndonville, he pulls into a small Thai Restaurant. A Thai restaurant. In NE Vermont. WTF?!? But, I've travelled with my pops through Thailand as well as China and India, so I respect his taste. Honestly, I was more worried about early-onset senility. We sat down at a rather spartan table and I gave the menu a look. First good sign: a well-though out menu with variable spice levels, nice selection of authentic soups, creative (though not overly-Americanized) appetizers, and a red curry that I just had to try. My pops and I split a Sapporo tall-boy and waited for our steamed dumplings. Second good sign: even in Vermont, this Thai restaurant came prepared with the Rooster (Sriracha hot sauce). If I a'int sweating bullets, I'm not happy with my Thai feast. The dumplings were adequate. My dad's more health-conscious than I am, so we ordered steamed. I have a feeling that pan-fried woulda been better. The filling was certainly tasty. I ordered my curry 4 spicy stars (the highest ranking on the menu). I should gone back to the all-Thai kitchen staff (third good sign, btw) and told them to give me 6 star spicy. I had to dump in three or four tablespoons of squeeze-bottle heat, but by the time I was done with my alchemy, I ended up with a super-tasty, yet delicate dish. Awesome beef. So, yeah, my dad's stubbornness hooked me up with my second acceptable St. J restaurant choice. Here's to finding # 3 (I'm actually raising up a Trout River). If anyone's got a suggestion, please let me know!

I found the secret to Kham's: their curries! I'm not a huge fan of their other menu offerings, but I was very pleased with the green curry I ordered recently.

I had the pad thai and my wife had the pad see ew. Respectable. 2 peppers of hotness seemed right. Pleasant efficient service

not the best Thai food I've had, but very impressive for Saint Johnsbury, VT! Fresh, tasty fare at a reasonable price. I was so happy to stumble across the reviews on yelp! ...something different! The portions weren't huge, but very reasonable (I hate when the portions are so big you end up taking most of it home). The staff was decent. I recommend!

Best food in St. Johnsbury! Almost everything I had here was delicious (especially the green curry)! Fresh vegetables! Friendly staff! -1 star because the jasmine rice tasted stale. Go for the brown rice instead.

The food is good anywhere and in St Johnsbury this place really stands out. Everything was fresh, they have a fairly extensive menu, spice it up the way you like it (2 out of 4 was pretty spicy), our food was served quickly, and the staff was friendly and very patient with my indecisive family. It is a small place as others have noted and our pad thai was a little greasy, but all in Kham's is a nice little Thai oasis in the frozen desert of northern VT.

Great Food! I was just passing through town and asked someone at a gas station for any recommendations and he directed us to Kham's. We were very pleased with our good fortune, that day at least. Kahms is comparable to some fo the best Thai food in LA (Kuhn Dang, Chatsworth, CA) and NYC.

Visited on Friday, October 10, 2014. Service was extremely slow. There appeared to be two wait staff who were overwhelmed with both dine-in service and take out. After waiting 10 minutes we received our drinks. After getting apps and dinner, we realized that we spent a total of two hours in the restaurant, most of which was spent waiting. The pad Thai was sent back. Nothing else was ordered in its place. We were extremely disappointed. Not returning.

I have visited often over the years when up here for work, it is the only Thai food in the area. I have always enjoyed it but two weeks ago it was not that great, not bad but not good, just ok. I went back tonight and it was great. Red Curry with seafood (extra basil) and house salad with peanut dressing. They did not have the peanut dressing a couple of weeks ago. Wait staff is great! small place and a little cold inside but it is winter in VT. I would recommend and will be back

It's relatively American but pretty good and pretty cheap with lots of non meat dishes. The spice level is reasonably potent.

Possibly the best Thai food I've ever had. I've eaten Thai from coast to coast, all over America, and this was just fantastic. I ordered a local beer and the steamed dumplings to start. The beer selection is decent (could be better), but the dumplings were quite good as an appetizer. Then I ordered the Pad See Ew (a noodle dish) for my entree, with chicken. I ordered the second highest spiciness level, and I must say that as someone who consumes spicy food often, this did not disappoint. It was quite spicy indeed. Lots of vegetables, which is a welcome departure from the commoner way this dish is cooked (slop some noodles, fish sauce and some sugar on a plate and call it a meal). I overheard other diners praising their dishes as well, so I don't think I was an anomaly. The staff were all very friendly also. I recommend it to anyone who happens to be passing through or even passing nearby St. Johnsbury.

Surprisingly good considering that it's in St. J!! When you order spicy they give it to you spicy so don't be too brave if you're used to the other bland Thai places. We ordered lunch (which ends at 2:30) and it came with a spring roll and a crab rangoon. The portion was perfect. The service was tops, we shall return!!

I am a local who has been here many times. I would say the first 3 or 4 experiences were very, very good. The last 3 or 4 have been underwhelming. I badly would like to give this place 5-stars, but the past few visits have all been mediocre. Never go here when the parking lot is full, because there usually is poor service. Usually the food is very good, but one of our 10 dishes ordered today was terribly over-cooked. The portions are small. Even with appetizers and drinks, we were all still hungry.

Consistently good, reasonably priced, authentic Thai dishes. If you like Thai, this is your place in Northern VT!

We stopped here on our way back home from Canada and it was just what we were looking for. Authentic food made fresh and to order. Multiple vegetarian options for those who have dietary restrictions. We got a Tom Kha soup that was amazing and fresh veggie spring rolls that was refreshing. I ordered a steamed tofu masaman curry with brown rice. It was great. And My husband got the Spicy Seafood Special - he said it was super yummy. Definitely recommended.

For the most part this has supplanted Chinese food as the take-out of choice for my family. The food is flavorful and fairly priced, and they let you adjust the spice level to your liking (though, in my experience their "moderate" is most people's "high" spice level, but to each their own.) There is a nice selection of combos as well as the standards. While not everything has always been my ideal, I've never gotten anything that I could say was bad food. Strong, consistent take out, which is surprisingly hard to come by in this area.

The Thai food here is delicious. They actually have some spice to their dishes which can be hard to find. Went here for lunch and dinner on several occasions, and all were pleasant. They have really good lunch specials as well. It's definitely worth checking this place out.

Very good flavor, doesn't require extra spicy to be good. Recommend the Pad Thai. Lunch portions are quite generous, come with soup, spring roll and a Crab Rangoon.

I would have to give this place a mixed review. I had high hopes for it because a local sent us there. When we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was friendly enough and we placed our order. It was lunchtime and they have a really reasonably priced lunch special. I ordered the Pad See Yeu and my husband got one of the curries. The soup that came with the special, to me, was awful, I wasn't even sure what it was. It was some sour liquid with these weird things floating around. I didn't finish it, but my husband liked it enough to eat mine. The spring rolls that we got were also kind of off, I ate them anyway, but it was not a pleasant experience. The worst part, though, was when our actual meal came. We had ordered our lunches with 2 stars because although we enjoy the heat, neither of us like when it's so spicy you can't taste the food. Well, that's how it came. I tried to plow through, but after 2 bites, I was literally choking. The waitress had disappeared, so I got up to find her to let her know that neither of us could eat our food it was so spicy. The first thing she said was, "oh, yeah, I forgot to warn you that it's very spicy". Ok, I can handle that. The dining room had started to fill up and she forgot to let us know. Then she said, "let me get you some bean sprouts, it's amazing how much better it will be with them on top". I told her I didn't like bean sprouts and I didn't want them, even if it would make it less spicy (though I don't see how that is possible). She kept insisting that sprouts were the answer, despite my repeating that I don't like mung sprouts. I went back to the table kind of confused and frustrated. She came over and asked if we wanted the check. By this point, I was so upset and I told her yes. She brought the check and started to give me a lecture on Thai food. THEN I got boiling mad. I explained to her as best I could that I have eaten Thai food all over the world including in Thailand, and that I had never had it that spicy. She disappeared after hemming and hawing. The saving grace, if you could call it that, was the owner came over and I asked her if we could please have another less spicy version of our lunch. She agreed and then came back and said that we now had the "non spicy" version, which is not really what we were going for, but she seemed concerned. We ate our food (which I would rate at a 3) and the waitress came over and said passive-aggressively, "is that MILD enough for you?" We didn't want it mild, we wanted it MEDIUM SPICY like we ordered it. Thankfully, we don't live anywhere near there. Should you try it? I will leave that up to you. The worst part was the customer service, it wasn't terrible food.

I always love it when I find a Thai place that means "spicy" when they say it! With a great, reasonably priced (around $8) lunch special that comes with soup, crab rangoon, an egg roll, with your choice of main dish and meat (or tofus/mixed vegetables), I imagine that Kham's is hard to beat if your looking for a fresh and flavorful lunch spot in the area.

We were hunting gluten free options and lucked upon Khan's on a Thursday evening. Friendly service, very knowledgeable about gluten free options, and delicious food - perhaps the best we have ever had. Wished we lived in Vermont that we could come back often!
